NEIL Lennon won’t be satisfied with the progress he is making at Wanderers until the club rectifies its dismal away record.

Finding form on the road has been a frustrating task for the Whites boss, who has won just four games out of 23 since his arrival at the Macron Stadium a little under a year ago – the last of which was over the Easter weekend at Cardiff City.

In contrast, Lennon has avoided defeat in 20 of his 25 home games, including last weekend’s thrilling 2-2 draw against league leaders Brighton.

And though the manner of that result created a buzz around the town, the manager has been quick to ensure focus is kept as the club go into the international break off a trip to QPR’s Loftus Road.

“I’ve heard a lot of nice things said but to be honest I’m not getting over-enamoured,” he told The Bolton News.

“There is progress but it’s slow.

“There are still some aspects which we find extremely frustrating, just like the second-half performance against Huddersfield. We have to find some way of replicating our form at home when we go away or that progress will remain slow.

“I wouldn’t say we’ve turned a corner just yet. We will, but right now we are marginally better.”

Lennon is looking forward to resuming after the international break with a stronger squad, including some of his more experienced players.

While Emile Heskey is expected to feature against QPR this weekend the likes of Darren Pratley and Dorian Dervite should be fit again by the time Wanderers visit Burnley on October 17.

“I need to get some players back and playing regularly,” Lennon said.

“Ones like Dorian, Pratley and Emile who’ll make us stronger and harder to beat, especially away from home.

“I can’t ask much more from the lads who played (against Brighton) and, of course, I’m pleased with the character they showed to get back into the game.

“They wanted to win the game and people have labelled them in the past as a team that maybe hasn’t got that side to them.

“So to dig in and get a point against Brighton was very pleasing but we know there is still a lot of hard work to do.”

Lennon’s record at home stands as 10 wins, 10 draws and five defeats in all competitions since he took charge but away from home his side have won four, drawn six and lost 13.
