NEIL Lennon is running the rule over former Newcastle United star Shola Ameobi – but is he the man to get Wanderers moving back up the table?
The 33-year-old scored 10 times in 18 appearances in his only full season in the Championship with the Magpies, helping them to promotion in 2010.
But his record as a regular goalscorer has been called into question throughout his career and some Whites fans have been left with mixed feelings over the club’s interest.
Ameobi’s club career record
Newcastle United 2001/2 to 2013/14 – Apps 397 Gls 79
Stoke City (loan) 2007/08 - Apps 6 Gls 0
Gaziantep 2014/15 – Apps 11 Gls 4
Crystal Palace 2014/15 – Apps 4 Gls 0
International record
England Under-21s - 20 caps 7 goals
Nigeria – 10 caps 2 goals
But what do you think? Should Ameobi be given a short-term deal at the Macron Stadium, or is there another striker on which Lennon should be concentrating his efforts?
