IT is 20 years since Bolton Wanderers left Burnden Park — and now we want to test your skills to mark the anniversary — with the chance to win a signed Whites shirt.

Last month we published a super 36-page Burnden Legends supplement celebrating the best 11 players ever to represent Wanderers on the iconic ground, as voted for by The Bolton News readers.

Now we want you to tell us how much you think that team would be worth in today’s transfer market.

See end of article for details on how to enter

The competition continues our celebrations of the 150th anniversary of The Bolton News and we have teamed up with Wanderers sponsors Spin And Win who are providing the fantastic prize.

Wanderers’ hero of the 1958 FA Cup final victory and England legend, Nat Lofthouse, never cost a penny because he played for Wanderers all his career, but had he moved he would probably have commanded something similar to the £65,000 Juventus paid Leeds United for John Charles in 1957, which was a record for a British player at the time.

How much would Nat cost in today’s money? We’re certainly talking tens of millions.

More recently John McGinlay cost Wanderers £125,000 and went on to become a club legend and play for Scotland – that would put him in the seven or eight-figure bracket nowadays.

The same could be said for all 11 of the Burnden icons who got the vote from The Bolton News readers to be in the all-time top team to play at the grand old ground.

But how much would a team cost that featured Eddie Hopkinson, Roy Hartle, Paul Jones, Gudni Bergsson, Tommy Banks, Per Frandsen, Peter Reid, Roy Greaves, Frank Worthington, McGinlay and Lofthouse if they were all at their peak and available on the transfer market today?

All you have to do to enter the competition is fill in the form at the bottom of the page, providing your name, address and contact telephone number, along with the combined figure you think all 11 Burnden legends would be worth in today’s money.

Our specialist panel of Wanderers legend Kevin Davies and long-time club correspondent for The Bolton News, Gordon Sharrock, have worked out their valuations which we have added together and divided by two to come up with an average figure.

And the person who gets closest to it will be the winner and receive the signed shirt.

The deadline for entries is Monday, February 20, and just to be clear, we don’t need your individual figures for each player, just the total combined figure.
