A MISSED penalty denied Dennis Politic a hat-trick for Wanderers Under-18s at Hull but his brace secured a 2-0 victory on Humberside.

After the disappointment of a home defeat in the U18 Professional Development League to Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, Nicky Spooner’s youngsters travelled to the east coast looking for a response.

And the coach was pleased with a display that saw the young Whites dominate from start to finish.

They started brightly and went ahead on 10 minutes through Politic.

But they could not add to their lead and get the goals their build-up play deserved.

The second half followed a similar script and Politic netted his second from a Cameron Moore cross.

When the 16-year-old Romanian was brought down in the Tigers’ penalty box, it looked like he would be leaving with the matchball but his penalty hit the post.

Nevertheless, his two goals secured all three points.

Coach Spooner told The Bolton News: “We dominated the game from start to finish.

“We the had good passages of play without increasing our lead in the first half and the second continued like the first.

“The pleasing aspect was the players’ attitude and desire after the disappointment of the midweek result and we also finished the game with three u16s on the pitch.
