WANDERERS will be playing catch-up again tomorrow – but Phil Parkinson is not complaining.
Promotion rivals Fleetwood, Bradford and Scunthorpe are in action today, meaning another anxious 24-hour wait for Whites fans before their side takes to the pitch against Bury.
The Oldham game was pushed forward on police advice but Parkinson does not believe it played any part in their defeat.
“We’ve had a few occasions this season where we’ve had to play after teams and had games in hand and we’ve done well. It is what it is, we’re not going to moan about it,” he said.
“We’ve been able to move our game against Bury back to the Tuesday to give us an extra day to prepare.”
Wanderers now have to pick themselves up quickly to face Lee Clark’s Shakers, who were beaten at home by Rochdale on Thursday night to leave themselves in a precarious position just above the relegation zone.
“They are fighting for their lives and our result at Oldham won’t have helped one bit,” Parkinson said. “We’ve got to keep the lads’ heads up because they put a lot of effort in.
“I’ve said all along we have to be careful about thinking we’re already there.
“There is work to be done.”
