WANDERERS Ladies added six new players to their ranks this week as they gear up for life in the Premier League North.
Chris Knights’ newly-promoted side, who will play at Atherton Colls’ Kensite Stadium this season, have announced half a dozen new signings in preparation for their pre-season schedule, which starts soon.
At 21, Safron Newhouse is the oldest of the new additions, which also include Millie Critchley, Olivia Hooper, Nicole Malpus, Amily Hockenhull and Gemma Yeldrem.
Club secretary Darren Butler hopes the blend of youth and experience from last year’s successful squad will be enough to keep the Whites in the higher division next season.
“The signings themselves are a sign that we determined to try and establish ourselves at Premier League level but at the same time the age bracket shows we want to give youth a chance and to develop players for the long term,” he said.
“We also have our own under-18 players but they are being kept together to develop as a group with high hopes that many will be capable of high level open age football during this season and into the seasons ahead.”
