WANDERERS find themselves back into the spotlight this weekend but Adam Le Fondre has no concerns about getting stage-fright.

The TV cameras will descend upon the Macron on Sunday just 98 days since they were last set up to record Phil Parkinson’s side beating Peterborough United to claim promotion from League One.

A 20,000-plus crowd is expected on the opening day for the first time since the Premier League days but Le Fondre, someone quite used to the big time, insists no-one is in danger of being over-awed.

“Don’t get me wrong, it’s a brilliant game to kick off with,” he told The Bolton News. “With it being on telly as well it’s a fantastic spectacle for the fans and hopefully we’ll put on a performance.

“They are one of the big clubs, they’ve got the tradition like Bolton, but don’t think for a second we’ll stand on ceremony and start looking at people in awe just because we’re playing back at a higher level again.

“We’ve all played in this division and higher. We’re not going to start getting star-struck. I think we’ll go full throttle for Leeds.”

Few pundits give Wanderers a chance of survival this term, given their lack of spending power and wage budget in comparison with the rest of the division.

Most bookmakers have the Trotters joint second favourites alongside Barnsley for the drop, Burton once again most people’s tip for rock bottom.

Yet Le Fondre would take great pleasure in confounding the club’s doubters again.

“Last season they were saying we couldn’t get promotion after everything that had gone on,” he said. “To bounce back against all odds is bound to give us some momentum going into the new season.

“We’re going to have to do that again, and I’m sure we will. The bookies will probably make us one of the favourites to go down, so it’s down to us to prove them wrong.

“It’s a big challenge – we’re under no illusion what a big step up it is to the Championship and how much money is being thrown around the league.

“You look at the money in the Premier League and it’s bound to filter down. Everyone wants to get there. But we have got a good spirit in this squad and we’re going to give it our all. It’s all we can do.

“I just think it’s such a tight changing room. The new lads have bought into it, we’re all similar characters and that’s one of the reasons I wanted to come back.”
