WANDERERS won’t be pursuing their interest in former Hull City defender Alex Bruce.
Phil Parkinson confirmed this afternoon he was not in a position to offer the 32-year-old centre-back a deal after a month-long trial because of the EFL transfer embargo, which restricts him to 23 senior staff.
“We haven’t progressed with Alex, no,” he told The Bolton News. “He’s an excellent pro but I said to him at the time that we had the restriction on numbers and we had the agreement in place with West Ham (for Reece Burke).
“Once that went through we couldn’t take another defender because we already had Dorian Dervite, Reece Burke, David Wheater, Mark Beevers and Derik Osede.
“That’s enough, really, even though Alex had done well and I am sure he’ll do well at a Championship club.”
