EX-WANDERERS skipper Jay Spearing is training with League One Blackpool as his search for a new club continues.

The midfielder has accepted an offer from his former Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer to keep up his fitness with the Tangerines but it is not yet known whether it will lead to a permanent offer.

Spearing posted a picture of himself in a Blackpool training kit on his Instagram account this afternoon with a message which read: “Back enjoying footy.”

The 28-year-old saw his contract at the Macron expire in the summer but has consistently been linked with a return.

Manager Phil Parkinson and chairman Ken Anderson said earlier this month that Wanderers had “moved on” but with the club still in the hunt for free agents, many fans are holding out hope a deal can be revived.

The Whites go into a crunch clash with Brentford on Saturday calling for fans to take advantage of the category D ticket banding, which means adult tickets will be just £15 and concessions £7 for the game.

Parkinson has Sammy Ameobi back in training, while Reece Burke and Josh Cullen will be available once again after sitting out against their parent club West Ham in the midweek Carabao Cup defeat.

Ben Alnwick and Mark Little are expected to brush off minor injuries to take their place in the squad but Josh Vela (ankle) and Will Buckley (hamstring) are unavailable.
