IVAN Klasnic has cancelled a trip to Bolton this weekend after finding a kidney donor.
The former Wanderers striker was due to make a special appearance at Saturday’s Macron clash with QPR but reports in Germany claim he was rushed into hospital on Tuesday night in Zagreb to undergo a transplant after a suitable donor was discovered.
In 2007 Klasnic suffered kidney failure while playing for German club Werder Bremen and received a transplant from his mother. It was rejected a matter of days later, forcing him to undergo another operation, this time with an organ donated by his father.
In 2016 Klasnic’s kidneys failed again, leaving him requiring dialysis treatment and critically ill in hospital.
Reports suggest the most recent operation has been a success and Klasnic is now recuperating.
Club spokesman Paul Holliday said: “We wish Ivan all the best in his recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to the Macron Stadium soon.”
