WANDERERS’ Under-23s made it back-to-back league wins with a commanding second-half display at Huddersfield Town.
Trialists Andrew Mitchell and Jack McKnight were included in David Lee’s squad, who had to work hard to protect a clean sheet in the opening half hour.
Jordan Thomas and Olly Dyson had chances to open the scoring but the game swung in Wanderers’ favour when referee Rebecca Walsh ruled Town keeper Ryan Schofield had handled the ball outside his area, producing a red card.
Matthew Fearnley put the Whites ahead after half time, combining well with Dennis Politic.
But the lead was only preserved thanks to a smart penalty save from Jake Turner after Jack Earing had been penalised for pulling down Reagan Booty.
Almost immediately, Cole Lonsdale made it two with a calm finish under replacement keeper Tadhg Ryan.
Wanderers: Turner, Muscatt, Lonsdale, Edwards, Brockbank, Mitchell, White (McKnight 81), Earing, Fearnley, Politic (Navarro 89’), Jones-Griffiths (Connell 90) Subs not used: Aspinall, Morris
