CONNOR Hall took his season’s tally to 18 as Wanderers’ development squad strengthened their grip at the top of the Professional Development League North table.

A 3-0 win at Cardiff City was kicked-off by the former Sheffield United youngster, who slid in mid-way through the first half to put his side ahead.

James Aspinall did well to preserve the advantage, making key saves from James Waite and Matthew Campbell as the game moved into a tense second half.

Wanderers had included Sunderland trialist Chris Allan on the left side of their midfield at the Cardiff City Stadium but otherwise had the core of young players who have been performing so well for David Lee and Tony Kelly this season.

And it was two of the mainstays, Ryan White and Cameron Moore, who completed the scoring – both netting in the final five minutes to make the points safe.

Wanderers now top the table by seven points from second-placed Sheffield Wednesday with six games remaining.

Should they finish in the top two, they will enter into a play-off with the top two sides from the southern section to determine an overall winner.
