EX-WANDERERS boss Colin Todd is about to undergo a heart by-pass operation in Denmark.

The 65-year-old former England international, who spent seven years with Bolton, is awaiting the operation in Arhus after complaining of chest pain during a training camp at his current club Randers.

Todd told the Daily Mail: “I am always positive in my thinking and the staff here at the hospital are keeping a watchful eye on me.

“Being hospitalised is completely new to me but the situation in Denmark is truly amazing, much better than in England.”

Todd started at Burnden Park as coach to Bruce Rioch and was part of three promotions and two relegations during his time at the club.

After an ill-fated spell in dual charge with Roy McFarland, Todd took sole responsibility in January 1996 and went on to build a free-scoring side that romped to the Second Division title in style.

After moving to the new Reebok Stadium, Todd’s side were cruelly relegated from the top flight on the final day on goal difference. Cash problems kicked in after relegation and though Todd took Wanderers to the play-offs in 1999, halted by defeat to Watford, he resigned the following season after the sale of Per Frandsen to Blackburn Rovers.
