MATCHDAY LIVE: Leeds United 1 Bolton Wanderers 5

This live event has finished

4:54pm

It's all over. 5-1. Memories of Leicester City and Filbert Street!

4:52pm

Matt Smith pulls one back for Leeds. Have to admit, I had my head buried in statistics.

4:49pm

Oh my word. Moritz rockets one in from the angle after Leeds failed to defend another set piece.

4:48pm

Five!

4:43pm

Smith heads over the top for Leeds, whose fans are filing out quick style.

4:42pm

Presumably that means Trotter plays a bit deeper than he has been doing.

4:41pm

Moritz on for Spearing

4:39pm

Same player heads over from Danns' corner. So close.

4:39pm

Butland makes an excellent save from Jutkiewicz. Could have been five.

4:34pm

4:32pm Sat 8 Mar 14

Beyond News Forum says

We want 5... we want 5...

Erm it will be 5-0 Marc!

4:34pm

Davies for Chungy

4:32pm

Unbelievable. Quick break from Wanderes, Jutkiewicz crossing for Davies to head home. Brilliant move.

4:31pm

It's four!

4:30pm

Wanderers fans singing to sign up Joe Mason. Short memories...

4:29pm

Trotter on for Mason

4:28pm

Murphy shot saved well by Bogdan. Rebound was clattered in, think it was Mowatt but blocked.

4:27pm

Leeds have been much more positive since making those substitutions.

4:24pm

Matt Smith and Alex Mowatt on for Kebe and Stewart. Fans very happy about that...

4:21pm

4:18pm Sat 8 Mar 14

Beyond News Forum says

Marc it's going to be 4-0 again \o/ Mason, Juke x2 and Knight *facepalm*

4:19pm

McCormack flashes a free kick just wide. Close.

4:18pm

Zat Knight's last goal was against Manchester United in September 2010.

4:16pm

Zat Knight scores for Wanderers!

Jutkiewicz won the header from Spearing's dead ball again, and it landed kindly for the big man who scuffed it into the net.

4:15pm

It's three!

4:14pm

That's four in six for Juke. What an addition he's been...

4:12pm

They've done it again! Spearing curls a free kick into the box and Jutkiewicz heads home from close range.

4:11pm

2-0 Wanderers!

4:11pm

A very good spot. Dougie particularly reluctant to venture near that puddle with that suit on.

Now for the Juke 2 goals and it's on Marc \o/

4:05pm

Second half underway.

4:04pm

Byram for Peltier

4:02pm

Well, the half time view was that the game needed a goal?

3:49pm

3:49pm

Controversial one.

Mark Davies attempted to foul Austin but the Jamaican rode his challenge and Kebe lost the ball.

Danns threaded a ball through and with Leeds players asking for offside/foul, Mason drifted through to slip the ball past Butland.

3:47pm

1-0 Wanderers

3:41pm

Warnock races into space on left but blasts a shot high and wide.

3:38pm

My match report so far consists of

Leeds United v Bolton Wanderers

by Marc Iles

3:37pm

Time to change that, of course. But it's been pretty dull for 35mins.

3:37pm

As a spectacle, the drive up the M62 was more entertaining.

3:34pm

Jimmy Kebe having a comedically poor game on the Leeds right, barely bettered by Peltier behind him.

3:32pm

Wickham shot deflected for a corner. Pressure on.

3:31pm

Wow. Some of the abuse being dished out by the Leeds fans to my left is something to behold...

3:27pm

Peltier drags a left footed effort, easily gathered by Bogdan. Shooting tame, much like the game so far.

3:25pm

Wanderers' first effort - Danns low into Butland's arms.

3:23pm

On the basis of the first 20 minutes, there will be a lot of 6/10s handed out today.

3:20pm

Austin puts in a massive challenge on Spearing on half way. Got the home crowd going.

3:19pm

Murphy tries his luck from edge of the box. His shot loops just over the bar. Closest either side has got so far.

3:15pm

Twelve mins and no real chances. Both sides just testing each other out so far.

3:13pm

Mason's low cross almost finds Jutkiewicz. Challenge by Lees just puts him off.

3:12pm

3:09pm Sat 8 Mar 14

liss white says

Elland Road is always a difficult place to go and I'd take a point today!

3:11pm

Leeds throwing a lot of crosses in. So far so good for Whites.

3:08pm

Scrappy couple of minutes as Wanderers deal with a bit of Leeds pressure on the left

3:05pm

Keble gets the home fans in their feet by beating Ream. Poor cross though.

3:04pm

Mark Davies has the first effort, collecting the ball on the edge of the box after Danns laid it off. Dragged it just wide.

3:02pm

3:01pm

Wanderers go into their huddle.

3:00pm

Tim Ream also still sporting his eerie white mask.

2:59pm

"We are Leeds" chant the home fans. It's not grammatically correct, but whatever...

2:57pm

Players in the tunnel.

2:55pm

Couple of minutes to kick off. Atmosphere building up nicely. Can't see the Wanderefs fans from where I am sat (in a dank refrigerator) but can hear them.

2:53pm

Big screen showing just about every Leeds goal from this season. They have scored some good ones - but almost all of them have been from McCormack.

2:49pm

Decent crowd building up here too.

2:48pm

I'd take that...

COYWM!!!

2:47pm

Last if the Leeds subs still warming up - Wanderers' having disappeared down the tunnel a few minutes ago as I was waffling on about food.

2:47pm

Sprinklers on in one half of the pitch. Looks in decent condition from way up here.

2:45pm

It was shepherd's pie today, well I say that, it was meatier. Suggestions o a postcard.

2:44pm

The chicken kebabs served in the press room saved my bacon that day, I don't mind telling you.

2:44pm

Last time I was here was New Year's Day 2013, with a major hangover.

2:41pm

No Jermaine Beckford in the squad, which either indicates another injury problem or a change of heart from Doigie Freedman, who assured everyone he was in the squad earlier this week.

2:40pm

If they were thawed out...

2:39pm

Thee are still journalists cryogenically frozen in here that can remember Leeds winning trophies regularly.

2:39pm

It was shirt sleeve weather when I came into Elland Road today but I know this press box of old... It is basically refrigerated.

2:38pm

Working so far, so keep your fingers crossed.

2:37pm

Now switched to iPad in the hope of keeping Matchday Live going today.

2:23pm

LEEDS to face BWFC (4-4-2): Butland; Peltier, Lees, Wooton, Warnock; Kebe, Austin, Murphy, Stewart; McCormack, Wickham.

Subs: Carins, Hunt, Brown, Smith, Zaliukas, Byram, Mowatt.

2:20pm

BWFC to face Leeds (4-4-2): Bogdan; Baptiste, Knight, Wheater, Ream; Davies, Spearing, Medo, Danns, Jutkiewicz, Mason.

Subs: Lonergan, Hutton, Eagles, Hall, Moritz, Trotter, Chung-Yong.

2:19pm

Very slow going in the press box, connection wise.

2:14pm

Few wi-fi problems holding me up at the moment - will try and fix asap.

2:07pm

And NO Jermaine Beckford in the squad...

2:05pm

Same team for Wanderers, I hear.

Score predictions on their way in a moment - I'm going for 1-1, Neil Danns scoring for Wanderers.

1:50pm

Can't imagine it will be a lot of changes considering last weekend's masterclass against Blackburn.

1:49pm

Teams shouldn't be far away - just seen part of the Wanderers press team go scurrying downstairs for information.

1:48pm

Will Abbott scored twice for David Lee's men - who led 2-0 at half time.

1:47pm

Congrats to the Under-18s, who beat Wolves 3-2 this morning.

1:46pm

Currently down in the press room with a few of the local journos - and being treated to a lovely bit of shepherd's pie. Excellent stuff.

1:45pm

My name is Marc Iles - and I'll be your guide through the next few hours here at Elland Road.

1:43pm

Good afternoon folks. Welcome to Matchday Live!

MEMORABLE MATCHES

2/3/1996

Premier League

Leeds 0 Wanderers 1

JUST a week on from an embarrassing 6-0 home defeat by neighbours Manchester United, Wanderers bounced back with their first win at Elland Road since 1958.

Gudni Bergsson scored the winner in front of more than 30,000 fans in West Yorkshire, also giving Colin Todd’s side a measure of revenge for their FA Cup exit at the same venue a few weeks earlier.

Wanderers briefly raised hopes that they would fight their way out of relegation, winning two of their next three games, but ultimately finished bottom of the pile.

12/01/1957

First Division

Wanderers 5 Leeds 3

Wanderers put five past Leeds in front of more than 25,000 fans at Burnden Park, with Nat Lofthouse helping himself to two goals on the day.

Bill Ridding’s side moved into seventh position with a hard-fought victory, with Doug Holden and Ralph Gubbins also getting on the scoresheet.

Unfortunate Leeds full-back Jimmy Dunn also put through his own net as Wanderers turned round a 3-1 deficit to take the points.

1:18pm

The Bolton News: Andy O'Brien

FOOT IN BOTH CAMPS

Andy O’Brien

Wanderers 2007-2011

Leeds 2010-2012

Solid defender who won The Bolton News’ player of the year in 2008 for his role in helping Gary Megson’s side avoid the drop.

He signed for Leeds on loan after Owen Coyle’s arrival at the Reebok and later turned the deal permanent. He is now playing in the MLS for Vancouver Whitecaps.

John Sheridan

Leeds 1982-1989

Wanderers 1996-1998

Made more than 200 appearances for Leeds and helped the side finish fourth in the Second Division in 1987 and reach the FA Cup semi-finals.

Sheridan added a touch of class to the Wanderers midfield as Colin Todd’s side romped to the title in with 100 goals and 98 points before leaving on the club’s relegation back to the second tier.

Rod Wallace

Leeds 1991-1998

Wanderers 2001-2002

Won the League championship with Leeds in his second full season after arriving at Elland Road for a hefty £1.6million.

Wallace signed for Wanderers from Glasgow Rangers and made 19 appearances in his single season at the Reebok, scoring three goals including one on his debut against Blackburn Rovers.

1:16pm

The Bolton News: Rodolph Austin. Picture: Action Images

ONE TO WATCH

Rodolph Austin

Powerhouse Jamaica international who has been outstanding in his last two games against Wanderers.

The 28-year-old sits in front of his back four as a protection policy but has suffered since the turn of the year, giving up his captaincy to Ross McCormack to try and recapture his best form.

He remains a key player for his side, however, and has featured in all but the first two games of this season in all competitions.

1:13pm

The Bolton News: Jermaine Beckford

SELECTION UPDATE (WANDERERS)

JERMAINE Beckford comes back into the squad for the first time since January 11 - but is likely to start on the bench.

Marc Tierney and Joe Riley have returned to training but will not feature, while Matt Mills (knee), Stuart Holden (knee), and Darren Pratley (shoulder).

1:08pm

The Bolton News: Jack Butland became England's youngest-ever goalkeeper on Wednesday night at 19 years and 158 days

SELECTION UPDATE

LEEDS are still searching for one more loan signing ahead of their game against Wanderers after capturing big names Connor Wickham and Jack Butland in recent weeks.

Key man Sam Byram is fit again after a hamstring injury but McDermott is expected to keep faith with Lee Peltier at right back after an encouraging performance against QPR last time out.

Keepers Paddy Kenny (ankle) and Jamie Ashdown (toe) are out long-term, as is former Wanderers trainee David Norris.

Likely line-up (4-4-2): Butland; Peltier, Lees, Pearce, Warnock; Kebe, Austin, Murphy, Stewart; McCormack, Wickham.
