YOUNG Wanderers striker Tom Eaves could be a close-season target for Coventry City.

The Sky Blues are believed to have already made tentative enquiries with regards the availability of the 22-year-old, who is currently on loan at Shrewsbury Town.

Whether they do make a formal approach, or whether Whites boss Dougie Freedman would be willing to let the Liverpudlian leave, remains to be seen.

Eaves penned a new three-year contract with Wanderers in January, 2013 after impressing Freedman.

And the manager has often stated the big striker is only out on loan to get more first-team experience than is currently on offer at the Reebok Stadium.

His current stint at the Greenhous Meadow has seen him score twice in 20 outings.

A lot may depend on whether the Whites make loan star Lukas Jutkiewicz a permanent addition to the forward line in the summer and what the future holds for Marvin Sordell once his spell at Charlton ends.

One option could be a season-long loan for Eaves who has already had spells with Bristol Rovers Rotherham and twice with the Shrews since joining Wanderers from Oldham as a teenager four years ago.

It appears Coventry would also been keen on that option as they look to add a target man to their ranks following the departure of Leon Clarke to Wolves in January.

Meanwhile, the agent of Wanderers’ US defender Tim Ream has poured cold water on talk of a move to West Brom.

Ream was linked with the Baggies this week but Whites boss Freedman said there had been no contact regarding the former New York Red Bulls man.

Now his representative, Patrick McCabe, has added his weight to that and told MLSsoccer.com his man is happy at the Reebok.

He said: “I’m not aware of any potential bid from West Brom or scouts watching him, but this is quite normal.

“Tim is quite settled at Bolton and really likes playing for Dougie Freedman.

“He is focused on playing weekly and finishing the season in good form.”
