Ex-Millwall man Liam Trotter will hit the ground running at Bolton Wanderers says manager Dougie Freedman
DOUGIE Freedman believes Liam Trotter will benefit from his “try before you buy” spell at Wanderers.
The midfielder has signed a three-year deal from Millwall, which will kick in at the end of June.
It follows a three-month loan at the Reebok in which he made consistent improvement during his 16 appearances, scoring one goal.
And Freedman reckons the familiarity Trotter now has with the club should stand him in good stead when he returns to start his career after the summer.
“Liam fits the bill for what we’re looking to do here,” he told the club. “He’s at the right age and has the right attitude, to want to come and play for this football club.
“During his time on loan he showed that he is capable of playing in a number of positions in our midfield and for me continued to improve as the games went on.
“Because of the loan, he knows the set-up and the way we like to work. He is someone we’ve been after for a while and it is pleasing to have another player in through the door at this stage.”
Trotter will be joined at Wanderers by former flat-mate Liam Feeney, who is understood to have agreed terms to move on a free transfer from Millwall this summer.
