This live event has finished
Nothing to be over-pleased about. But Wanderers ARE in round three.
All over - thank goodness for that.
Crewe not giving this up - still pressing.
Beckford nearly had a hat-trick. Garratt making a good late save.
Beckford finishes well from Chungy's cross. Keeper was well off his line.

We just can't hold a lead. We need more protection and tenacity in midfield when we get a lead, because the back 4 has little protection at times

Some light relief though..........my dons 4 utd 0 !
Half time in extra time and it's Crewe who end on top. Grant fires just wide. Fifteen to go.
Crewe keeper Garratt makes a mess of Dervite's flick. Chung-Yong's corner causes all sorts of problems.
Feeney crosses for Mason, who heads just over the top. Feeney has played quite well tonight.
Haber sees an effort tipped on to the bar by Lonergan.
Crewe player up - Danns gets up and looks groggy.
Danns and a Crewe player clash heads/bang shoulders - both look in pain.
Haber with the far post header to send us into extra time, and me into a fit of rage.
Apologies. Just tried to find some rafters...
Grant flashes a shot wide.
Wifi crashed! Beckford volleys home at the far post after Feeney's cross had been flicked up by Mills.
EIGHT minutes of extra time! It's Bury all over again.
Grant blasts over for Crewe. This one's heading for extra time... put your shirt on it.
Feeney crosses for Beckford at the far post - tried the spectacular volley but missed completely.
Tootle appeared to bring Chungy down. Could have been a penalty.
Few crosses into the Crewe box there and a half chance for Danns and Mason to shoot. Crewe hold out.
I think we can expect a lot of injury time even if this game doesn't go to extra time... That'll make my desk happy.
Tootle blasts just over for Crewe. Given all sorts of space to get a shot in there.
Game has been stopped for quite a while now. Looked like a clash of heads with Beckford.
Think its George Ray - but he's being loaded on to a stretcher.
Crewe defender down at the moment. Hasn't moved.
Nolan hits a shot on the turn for Crewe. They haven't had many chances this second half.
Chungy and Mason on for Wilkinson and Lester.
Beckford has a half chance on the edge of the box, fed by Feeney, but straight at keeper Garratt.

I think it's quite clear where the problems are on the pitch. According to BBC Sport in our 1st 4 league games the highest percentage of possession we have had is 50% vs Watford. The other 3 games have been around the 40% mark, with our match vs Boro being a measly 38% and so far today we are on 40%. This is not good enough.
That's why we need to play 5 in midfield. That extra man can win, or at least challenge the 2nd ball and we can start from there. Players like Mason and Chung Yong Lee are excellent players when we can actually get hold of the ball. Any defence would crack under so much pressure and it's no surprise that ours usually does. As for the 3 in midfield. When fit, I'd have Spearing, Holden and Mavies. If no Holden then Josh Vela. Let's just keep the ball first instead of tossing it up to Craig Davies and hoping.
Feeney gets into the game for the first time in the second half, swinging a cross in for Wilkinson - but just over his head.
Dink over the top from Pratley - Beckford tries to lob the keeper but it sails over. Offside in the end, too.
As I say that, Pratley brings down Waters on the edge of the box and earns himself a yellow.
All gone rather quiet here. Very little action to write about.
Beckford flagged offside. Good ball from Dervite.
I know our sports desk is praying for a winner here... Extra time is a no-no.
Decent start to the second half by Wanderers, plenty of pressure and a couple of corners.

Goes to show what a bit of build up play can do doesn't it, rather than going route one all the time. First goal from open play this season, lets hope it gives us a confidence boost. Come on Whites!
8:29pm Tue 26 Aug 14
Also good to see a goal coming from midfield, exactly what we needed from Pratley that
Another good save by Lonergan. Mistake by Mills allowed Oliver to run at goal - his low shot blocked well by the Whites keeper.
Lonergan bails Wanderers out again, Inman stripping Threlkeld for pace and forcing the Whites keeper into an excellent save.
Attendance: 2611 (1028)
Threlkeld chips a cross in for Beckford, who can't make a connection.
It has been all Wanderers this last 10 minutes. Freedman's inquest appears to have worked.
Pratley heads home after a great cross from the left by Feeney. Good ball from Dervite out of the back to find Beckford too.
Crewe seeing a lot less of the ball but Wanderers still lacking invention in midfield.
Trotter shot deflected for a corner.
Best bit of football from the Whites so far - Trotter and Feeney combine. Good cross scrambled clear.
Wanderers starting to see more of the ball in midfield. Finally exerting some pressure.
Short break in play after an injury. Freedman calls a mini inquest on the touchline.

Awful start, but what do the tactics look like... Passing around more or playing direct?
Very direct. But hardly had the ball.
Lonergan makes a point blank save from Inman before Oliver mis-hit a volley wide. Had a full goal to aim at.
Wanderers fans ordering Freedman to "sort it out"
Matt Mills makes another great block - and gives Threlkeld a real ear-bashing. After that, Ray heads against the bar from the corner. Incredible stuff.
First chance for Wanderers - Wilkinson chases down a lost cause and crosses in for Beckford, who got under the ball as he tried to hook it towards goal.
Nolan cuts in past Threlkeld again - blasts just wide.
Turton volleys wide after another decent exchange of passes, and a knock down from Waters.
Wanderers fans trying to get behind their team but it's been dire, dire, dire so far.
Crewe just not giving Wanderers a touch. Great start from the League One side.
Threlkeld being ripped apart on the left - Atkinson just forcing Lonergan into a scrambling save.
Crewe just cut Wanderers apart again - Inman and Waters exchanging passes and it was only a late block from Dervite that prevented a goal.
Feeney playing on the left at the start, Lester on the right.
Pratley tries to respond immediately but side-foots a shot from the edge of the box straight at the keeper.
Bradden Inman with the goal - glided past Threlkeld as if he wasn't there and tucked a lovely finish past Lonergan. Really well taken.
Feeney rattles straight into the full-back Matt Tootle. Not a great challenge.
To make matters worse, I can't seem to get our Matchday Live module to copy on to the front page - so might be blogging for no apparent reason. Bit like Transfer Deadline Day (joke).
Crewe have made four changes, blooding four Academy players tonight. Just the nine for Wanderers - hinting at what priority the Capital One Cup takes with clubs at all level nowadays.
And believe me, I felt every single one of them...
All set up in one of the highest press boxes anywhere in the country. Exactly 103 steps on the way up from reception.
Crewe (4-5-1): Garratt; Tootle, Ray, Dugdale, Guthrie; Inman, Turton, Atkinson, Nolan, Waters; Oliver.
Subs: Shearer, Cooper, Saunders, Molyneux, Leigh, Haber, Grant.
OK - teams tonight.
Wanderers (4-4-2): Lonergan; Threlkeld, Mills, Dervite, Ream; Feeney, Trotter, Pratley, Lester; Beckford, Wilkinson.
Subs: Fitzsimons, Medo, Kamara, Wheater, Mason, Chung-Yong, Hughes, Danns.
I'll be back with all the pre-match news and views from 7pm.
Good evening folks and welcome to Matchday Live - big night tonight for Wanderers, who can ill-afford to lose this game after a very poor start to the season. One point in four games has simply not been good enough but could a win here at Gresty Road raise the mood a little heading to Leeds United this weekend?
