WANDERERS (4-2-3-1)

ADAM BOGDAN...6 Had to be brave on occasion coming off his line but might just have got his angles wrong for Warnock’s goal.

HAYDEN WHITE...6 Ventured forward and got behind Leeds a couple of times but question marks over his defending early on.

MATT MILLS...7 Strong enough to cope with whatever the home side threw at him in the first half, making a couple of good blocks.

DAVID WHEATER...n/a Lasted only seven minutes before pulling up with a back strain. Summed up Wanderers’ luck on the day.

TIM REAM...6 Recovered his poised after a disappointing start. Leeds got at the makeshift full-back in the early stages.

MEDO KAMARA...5 Largely anonymous as Wanderers piled forward. Needed to be a little more adventurous.

JAY SPEARING...7 An improvement on recent outings from the skipper. Passing was better and he kept team moving in second half.

NEIL DANNS...6 Saw a lot of the ball in the first half but provided very little penetration. Improved in the second half.

CHUNG-YONG LEE...5 Should have earned a point with late effort. Totally anonymous in the first half – looked completely out of the game.

JOE MASON...6 Got into the positions, as they say, but his lack of cutting edge prevented this from being a comfortable afternoon.

CRAIG DAVIES...6 Worked hard against his marker. Puzzling to see him taken off for Beckford, rather than the tiring Mason.

Subs:

Dervite 7 (for Wheater) – Didn’t do a lot wrong after an early call 6

Beckford 73 (for Davies) – Missed a golden late chance 5

Feeney 81 (for Medo) – Provided some late spark 6

Not used: Lonergan, Pratley, Hughes, Hall.

STAR MAN – Jay Spearing Kept passing and probing in the last hour of the game as things became increasingly desperate. By no means a complete performance but evidence that the fight is still there.

Goals: Leeds – Warnock 16

Entertainment – 7/10 Wanderers threw everything forward in a frantic search for an equaliser at the end, making for a pulsating finish. The football was neat enough throughout.

Atmosphere – 7/10 Elland Road is rarely quiet but the early goal certainly helped the home fans find their voice. Wanderers’ support willed their team forward but they couldn’t supply the goal they craved.

Match point – Take your pick of the Wanderers goal-scoring chances – too many to count. Waste that kind of opportunity and you deserve what you get at times.

Magic moment – Silvestri supplied a world class double save at the end to keep out Beckford and Chung-Yong. Not a moment of genius that Wanderers’ fans appreciated, but superb nonetheless.
