WANDERERS have completed the loan signing of Crystal Palace midfielder Owen Garvan.

Dougie Freedman has signed his former Selhurst Park charge on a three-month loan with a view to a permanent move further down the line.

Garvan came close to signing for the Whites on transfer deadline day but held off to see if he could earn a longer-term contract than the one on offer at the Macron Stadium.

Ipswich Town – where Garvan started his Football League career - were one of the clubs said to be monitoring his situation but when Palace indicated he would be available for loan earlier this week, Freedman made his interest known immediately.

The 26-year-old Dubliner could be signed in time to feature in this weekend’s home game against Sheffield Wednesday.

Garvan has more than 250 appearances at Championship level and has also played twice in the Premier League for Palace.
