WILDCARDS Max Clayton and Zach Clough could come into play if Dougie Freedman decides to go on the attack at Stamford Bridge.

Academy starlet Clough has been named in the squad travelling to west London, while Clayton was also given just 45 minutes for the development squad in their 3-1 win against Reading on Monday night.

Freedman hinted youth could get a chance in the cup at his pre-match press conference.

“This is the first opportunity that some of the younger players will get to play on a big stage like Stamford Bridge, and why should they fear it? We are looking forward to the game and testing ourselves at the top level.”

Kevin McNaughton may be rested until weekend, depending on whether new loan signing Chris Herd is registered in time to face the Blues.

The Scottish full-back had been due to play against Wolves last weekend but was deemed a risk after losing too much weight during a recent bout of illness.

All being well, Herd would come in at right-back and leave McNaughton to concentrate on the weekend’s home game against Derby County.
