WANDERERS hit bottom spot in the Championship table, completing their worst start to a campaign in 50 years.

Worse was to come, of course, with Dougie Freedman’s men going on to register 10 games without a win and setting an unwanted 111-year low.

“This is the first time in my management career at Bolton that I’m going to say I am frustrated,” Dougie Freedman said after the 2-2 draw – in another statement that would be re-addressed later in the season.

“There’s a lot of suggestion there that we’ve got a good team, we just need to gel them together a little bit and stop losing goals at crucial moments in football matches.”

Alex Baptiste gave Wanderers the lead after just five minutes but Johnny Russell got the Rams back on level terms two minutes later.

The Scottish winger then put the visitors in front on 18 minutes with another tap-in from close range.

The Whites pressed hard for an equaliser and David Ngog headed over from close range before Chris Eagles, another of Bolton’s soon-to-be-shelved stars, levelled the scores again with a 25-yard strike.

It was the winger’s first appearance since injuring his ankle in the opening day draw at his former club Burnley.

Matt Mills prevented Derby from taking all three points with a crucial goal-line clearance from Adam Smith at the bitter end.
