WANDERERS under-18s’ poor run of results continued with a 2-1 home defeat to Wolves on Saturday.

David Lee’s youngsters started brightly in the FA U18 Premier League clash and took the lead when Christopher Cvetko planted a header home from a Tyrell Palmer free kick.

Cvetko then had a decent opportunity to double the advantage from six yards but could only find the side netting.

Wanderers were not short of chances and Will Abbotts had another one-on-one chance but failed to test the keeper.

Despite their domination, however, Wolves levelled before half time through Bright Enobakhare and five minutes after the break, an individual mistake allowed the visitors to take the lead for the first time when Jesse Devers netted.

The young Whites did not drop their heads, though, and kept creating opportunities.

But the clinical touch was lacking again and they slipped to a fifth successive league loss.

Lee said: “There are fine lines between success and failure, and we didn't have the defining ability to score goals when the opportunity came along.

“The players showed a great desire to press the opposition, which was the week’s training theme, forcing the opponents to give up possession in their own final third.

“It just wasn’t to be for us on the day.”

The U18s travel to Derby on Saturday for their next outing, kick off noon.
