Fortified by a superb lunch at the Miller Arms Watering Hole in Singleton, we arrived early as the mass ranks of Neil Lennon’s Super White Army descended upon Bloomfield Road for the eagerly anticipated clash with Blackpool.

Our allocation had been sold out weeks ago and fans have been begging for tickets on Twitter, Facebook and outside the ground.

Many fans commented that it was just like the good old days, with a modern twist as everyone seemed to be taking Groupsies. The opportunities for photo-bombing were enormous.

Most fans were expecting an easy win against a struggling Blackpool side but it wasn’t to be as Lee Clark has instilled some fight in the Seasiders. It was a typically hard fought Lancashire derby which we should have won, could have lost and in the end settled for a point.

Generally the performance was good. Andy Lonergan couldn’t do anything about Jacob Murphy’s superb free kick, needlessly given away by Jay Spearing.

Thankfully, we battled back and equalised through Chung-Yong Lee, something we might not have done a few weeks ago.

But we let ourselves down in the final third of the pitch where too many passes went astray, the crossing was poor and chances were missed.

Neil Lennon knows he has a lot to work on but he’s made a start and we are heading in the right direction.

He’s still assessing his squad and starting to make the necessary changes with Jermaine Beckford going. The crowd made it clear that they hope ‘Eidur’s coming home’.

Neil Lennon has already got the players, the fans and the town on his side. The Oxford Grove story was brilliant.

We’ve got our team back. The support was tremendous. Everyone is looking forward to watching the Wanderers again. There’s a long way to go but we’re definitely on the march with the NLSWA.
