FORMER Wanderers winger Chris Eagles wants to stay on at Championship strugglers Blackpool until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old's short-term contract at Bloomfield Road runs out at the start of the new year but Eagles hopes he will remain in a tangerine shirt after firing his first goal for the club in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Charlton.

Eagles, who was released by the Whites in the summer and had been without a club before joining Blackpool, told the Blackpool Gazette: "I want to stay until the end of the season, everyone knows that.

“I’m in talks with the club at the moment. I’d like to seal the deal now.

“I’ll hopefully be having a chat about extending it this week.

“I’m loving it here. I get on with all the lads and the gaffer, and the fans have taken to me too. It’s brilliant.

"It’s a pleasure to play here.

“I spoke to a few fans and I want to thank them for accepting me, especially as I’ve played for a couple of their rivals. I’m going to do everything I can to keep Blackpool up.”
