JAMES Tarkowski admits Wanderers could be an unknown danger to Brentford’s diminishing play-off ambitions.

After letting three points slip at Derby County last weekend and slipping to defeat at Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, hopes are fading fast at Griffin Park of back-to-back promotions.

The Bees have had a sensational season but appear to have come unstuck at just the wrong time.

Manchester-born Tarkowski hopes that having achieved safety, Wanderers have turned their attention to the summer – and there was ample evidence to suggest that was the case in a tepid 1-1 draw against Charlton in midweek.

But the former Oldham Athletic man also believes, with the pressure off, Lennon’s men could be a tricky obstacle to negotiate.

“It’s tough. If teams are safe it can go one or two ways,” he told GetWestLondon. “They might not be bothered and be very lax or play with freedom.

“Sometimes, when you give players freedom they play at their best.

“We know if we play well nobody can deal with us, so we’ve got to turn up ourselves.”

Bees boss Mark Warburton lashed out in midweek after criticism of his side’s performances since their thrilling 4-1 win over neighbours Fulham earlier in the month.

And Tarkowski conceded defeat at Hillsborough in midweek had hit hard – raising hope that Wanderers could be catching the West Londoners on a good day.

“Nothing was really said in the dressing room on Tuesday,” he said.

“We know what had happened, while Derby was a big frustration as it was a big three points.

“We know what happened. We missed our chances and let a goal in.

“We can’t look at a performance as we didn’t perform badly that night.

“To cut a team open and have three or four one-on-ones, you can’t say we performed very poorly.”

Wanderers have confirmed there will be no pay on the day for fans at Griffin Park with tickets available from Bolton Central until 2pm today.

More than 1,000 Whites fans are making the trip, with limited seats now available for what could be Bolton’s final league game at the soon-to-be-demolished stadium, and their first visit in the league in nearly 23 years.
