CHRIS Hughton believes it would be a “massive achievement” to protect Brighton’s unbeaten start to the campaign when they visit Wanderers tomorrow.

The Albion boss would set a new club record if his side avoids defeat at the Macron Stadium, usurping the points total after nine games set in 1977 and 1953.

And Hughton, who was one of a handful of managers sounded out for the vacant manager’s job last October, is under no illusion how big an accomplishment that would represent.

“Not just for us but for any team in this division because there isn’t any manager or team that doesn’t know how hard the games are week in, week out, particularly when you’ve got the Saturday and midweek games,” he said.

“It would be a wonderful achievement and at this moment the team are in good form and going into every game trying to get a result in every game and we’ll continue to try and do that for as long as possible.

“It’s important that when things don’t go our way that we are able to bounce back and show the resilience that we have done so far.”

Hughton believes Lennon has made a solid start to life at Bolton and backs him to steadily improve Wanderers’ fortunes in the future.

“It’s a different job for Neil than he knew at Celtic but he will have known that when he joined, that he has come into a club that have had to change their outlook as lots of teams in this division have had to do,” he said.

“The teams that were Premier League clubs a few years ago, will have had to change in terms of finances and the way they go about the type of players they want to bring in.

“Bolton have some good players and he’s a very good experienced manager. I’ve got no doubt that he will do a good job there.”

Hughton is hoping top scorer Tomer Hemed will be fit for the trip to Wanderers having limped out of the 0-0 draw against Wolves with a hamstring problem.

“We’re very hopeful he’ll train tomorrow (Friday) and if he trains tomorrow he’ll be fine for the weekend,” he added.
