WANDERERS: 4-2-3-1

BEN AMOS 6

Should have collected the ball for Brighton’s first goal but otherwise the Wanderers keeper was his usual sound self. Great distribution too.

FRANCESCO PISANO 6.5

A very competent start for the Italian, whose thrust down the right opened up a lot of space for the Whites later in the game. Looks like a player.

DAVID WHEATER 7

The big man took a little while to warm up but his heart-on-sleeve defending has been missed. Even produced a cheeky back-heel in the second half.

PRINCE-DESIRE GOUANO 6.5

Like Wheater, was tested by the movement of Baldock and Zamora early on but Prince grew into the game even before Brighton abandoned their attack.

DEAN MOXEY 6

Lennon’s most dependable player this season – but Moxey had a wobbly afternoon, giving away too much possession and leaving gaps behind him.

NEIL DANNS 7.5

Scrapped for everything and dragged his side back into the game with a very smart finish. Danns has hit a nice vein of form in the last couple of weeks.

MARK DAVIES 7.5

Linked really well with Clayton and grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck in the second half. A marked improvement on his Huddersfield display.

WELLINGTON SILVA 6.5

Teased the visitors in the first half and won free-kicks in some dangerous areas. His effectiveness dried up after an hour and he made way for Dobbie.

MAX CLAYTON 8

Had no right to play this well after nine months out. Looked full of running, demanded the ball and was desperately unlucky not to score too.

LIAM FEENEY 7

Feeney’s crossing was patchy but he kept plugging away and produced a fine ball for Madine’s equaliser. Never leaves anything out on the field.

GARY MADINE 7

Even without his goal Madine had that bit of devilment back in his game. That header ended a long, long wait – but will it launch his Wanderers career?

Subs: Dobbie 71 (for Wellington) – Added an extra attacking threat 6 Walker 84 (for Clayton) – Worked hard in the final stages 6 Spearing 88 (for Danns) – Gave some urgency in possession 6 Not used: Rachubka, Vela, Woolery, Finney.

STAR MAN – Max Clayton

Honourable mentions to Neil Danns and Mark Davies – but Clayton had absolutely no right to play this well after nine months out of the game.

The youngster has returned in excellent physical shape and was every bit as influential as Zach Clough, demanding the ball at every juncture.

The prospect of one day seeing both of them on the same pitch is mouthwatering.
