WANDERERS have passed on the chance to sign ex-Liverpool winger Adam Hammill.

The 27-year-old midfielder trained with the Whites last week but it is understood that the club will not be offering him a deal to play at the Macron Stadium.

Fellow trialist Shola Ameobi appears more likely to earn a contract, however, and will play in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Euxton on Monday so that manager Neil Lennon can take a closer look at him.

The 33-year-old former Newcastle United and Crystal Palace front man also trained for most of last week with Wanderers and is looking for a short-term deal.
