STELIOS wants immediate answers from Wanderers after his bid to buy the club was left in limbo for weeks.

The Bolton News understands that the former Greece international is spearheading a consortium that first registered their intention to takeover back in January.

Paperwork passed back and forth between the two parties until recently when the trail went cold. The 41-year-old now wants to know why – and is seeking clarification from Trevor Birch, the financial advisor appointed last week to hurry through new ownership at the Macron Stadium.

Stelios is backed by a number of cash-rich investors from Canada alongside another business partner from Greece. Funds would be made available to sign new players quickly in the transfer window – and crucially, it is believed the former Whites midfielder wants to keep Neil Lennon in charge.

A number of sources within the club believe Davies has been reluctant to entertain bids from abroad, preferring instead to keep Wanderers in English hands.

That would appear to put the Dean Holdsworth-driven Sports Shield bid in the driving seat, with the former club record signing now waiting for a firm yes or no from Davies after filing all the relevant paperwork last week.

A report claimed this morning that a Middle Eastern investor has also thrown his hat into the ring – but their interest is as yet unconfirmed.
