DERIK Osede is primed for action after his season at Wanderers got off to a false start.

The former Real Madrid defender could come into the equation for Phil Parkinson tonight if Tom Thorpe is passed unfit.

And after struggling to overcome groin and hamstring injuries in the first few months of the campaign – the manager says he would have no issues putting him into action at The Den, if needed.

“He played really well at centre-half against Blackpool in the Checkatrade Trophy, that was his first game back, but we’d explained that Mark (Beevers) would be back in for the next game,” he explained.

“But he’s a good midfield player as well – and I think the Bolton fans know that because they saw him in that holding role last season and do exceptionally well. He’s a good passer of the ball, he can get to the ball quickly, he can recover on to people with his power, so he’s got a lot of attributes to play in either position.

“Derik’s attitude has been great and though he had a difficult pre-season, which frustrated him and us, he’s through it now.”
