DEAN Holdsworth will sell his shares in Wanderers – if Ken Anderson guarantees he will not be turned away from the club.

The Bolton News understands former striker Holdsworth is seeking an ambassadorial role with the Whites if he sells his 50 per cent stake.

It is feared cash-flow problems could arise next month if the frosty relationship between the pair is not thawed, with creditors already starting to sit up and take notice.

Moves have now been made by the pair to reconcile their differences and hopes are high within the Macron that a deal will be struck quickly, avoiding any worst case scenario.

Holdsworth has been in dispute over unpaid salary from a Director of Football role he resigned in July and has also rowed with Anderson over funds he committed to the club when the pair bought majority shareholding from Eddie Davies in February.

The 48-year-old is keen to stay on in some capacity after scrapping to save the club from administration earlier this year and remains a popular figure among the fans.

Anderson was disappointed to cancel a meeting with supporters last night with less than 24 hours’ notice after feeling he could not give acceptable answers about financial issues with negotiations at such a delicate stage.

The chairman has denied he is in talks with Saudi Arabian investors to sell the club completely - with the club issuing a statement to that effect yesterday evening. But the Monaco-based businessman has made no secret of his desire to bring in outside cash in the future.

In order to provide a business plan to the Football League and submit the overdue accounts for 2015 necessary to take Wanderers out of a transfer embargo, club sources claim his only option is to buy Holdsworth out and become sole owner.

Progress has been made on and off the pitch at Wanderers despite a running battle in the boardroom but sources suggest encouraging talks were held on Monday and after Tuesday night’s 1-0 win over Coventry City.

Wanderers fans are desperate to avoid a return to the financial problems which plagued the club earlier this year as it tumbled out of the Championship.

Phil Parkinson’s side have made a fine start to life in League One and the manager is keen to strengthen his squad further in January.
