SHEL Saunders bagged a Mersey hat-trick to book Wanderers Ladies’ place in the Argyle Plate Final.

The Whites will face MSB Woolton at Bootle FC in May after a 4-2 win over surprise semi-finalists Liverpool City.

Ruby Howard’s wicked corner led to the opening goal. Clawed out by the keeper, it was headed over the line by Phoebe Duckworth in any case.

Howard turned creator again seven minutes later as Saunders headed home from another set piece.

Saunders had two efforts scrambled off the line before adding her second, slotting home well one on one.

Liverpool got a consolation but after Rachael Whitelegg and Mitch Kirkman-Ryan hit the woodwork, Saunders completed her hat-trick.

Liverpool did grab another consolation with a dubious penalty towards the end but Wanderers were safely through to the May 14 final.

CMB halted their miserable run with a hard-fought draw against in-form Blackburn Community.

Unlucky to be one down at the break, the Chew Moor side grabbed a deserved equaliser when Lily Tankard played Rachel Hindle through in the 70th minute to round the keeper.

CMB hope to go one better in the reverse fixture this weekend as they fight against relegation.
