WANDERERS (3-5-1-1)

MARK HOWARD…6.5 One fine save in the second half from Green, whose shot came through a crowd of bodies. Struggled with his kicking in the first half – though conditions certainly didn’t help.

DORIAN DERVITE…6.5 Had been a fitness doubt prior to the game because of infected blisters but generally coped well. Erwin did find some extra space later in the game as it became more open.

DAVID WHEATER…7 Comfortable enough in defence and kept busy as Oldham left two strikers up front despite going a man down. In an attacking sense Wheater didn’t get a clear sight of goal.

MARK BEEVERS…7 Denied another away day moment by a decent block from McLaughlin which summed up the frustration. Pushed forward into midfield in the latter stages as Wanderers searched desperately for an equaliser.

FILIPE MORAIS…6 Worked well in the early stages with Vela and produced some decent deliveries without having much to aim at. Should have scored after half time when played through on the keeper.

DERIK OSEDE…6 Got himself involved in what was a real midfield scrap in the first half and looked to have a couple of chances to shoot, which were passed up. Eventually subbed when Wanderers went a goal down.

JAY SPEARING…7 Ran the show either side of half time and forced John Sheridan to bring Paul Green off the right wing to mark him at one stage. Definitely one of the more encouraging performers.

DARREN PRATLEY…5 Two awful shots in the first half but denied by a brave header from McLaughlin after the break. Wasn’t as dominant as he has been in recent weeks.

DEAN MOXEY…5 Struggled to adapt to the pitch and surrendered a lot of possession. His long throw remained effective but won’t take much out of the game.

JOSH VELA…6.5 Marathon man was playing his 50th game of the campaign and still seems to be full of energy. Didn’t break past Le Fondre enough but worked well down the right with Morais.

ADAM LE FONDRE…6 Worked his tail off with very little useable service. Always on the shoulder of Clarke and looking for scraps on a terrible pitch. Denied by the cross bar late on.

Subs:

Clayton 70 (for Pratley) – Didn’t make much of an impact

5 Henry 79 (for Moxey – Does seem to inject some energy on the ball 6

Long 86 (for Derik) – Unlucky with a late volley 6
