LUCA Navarro netted the only goal as Wanderers Under-18s won at Burnley to extend their unbeaten league run to six games.

It was the teenager's third goal in two U18 Professional Development League matches and his seventh of the campaign as the Clarets were kept at bay in the Lancashire derby.

The game started evenly with both teams having chances to score.

Just five minutes were on the clock when Wanderers' first chance arrived but Jordan Boon was unlucky not to find the net from Navarro's corner.

Nevertheless, it gave the visitors confidence and they began to take control.

And they had the lead on 15 minutes through Navarro when he dusted himself down after being fouled outside the box and hit an unstoppable free kick into the top corner.

Wanderers had chances to increase their lead with the front three causing the hosts problems but it remained 1-0 at the interval.

In the second half, the young Clarets deployed a more direct approach but the Whites defence stood firm.

And as Burnley pressed higher there were chances on the break for Wanderers.

But Nicky Spooner's side settled for the one goal and another good result.

The coach said: "It was a very good team performance especially as were forced to make changes due to injuries and suspension."
