Wanderers' blues continued at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea sprung into life with a three-goal blitz in the second half.

It's now 17 games without a win in this part of West London, and an encouraging performance in the opening 45 minutes will be scant consolation to those Whites fans who see the league table tonight.

Level on points with bottom club Wigan, and heading into a daunting trip to Manchester City next weekend, Owen Coyle's side simply had no answer to Chelsea's counter attacking after the break.

They had defended manfully in a relatively uneventful opening half, in which Adam Bogdan made only two meaningful saves.

The first was from Frank Lampard, who had burst through on to Juan Mata's pass and been driven wide by a good challenge from Tim Ream.

The other was a more spectacular effort to push away Daniel Sturridge's dipping shot from the edge of the box.

Ryo Miyaichi had Wanderers' best effort of the half in stoppage time, as the Japan winger snatched at a near-post chance after good work from Tuncay down the right.

The Whites' defensive rigidity was nowhere to be seen two minutes after the break, however, when David Luiz was afforded enough space to step inside after a Lampard corner and curl his shot past Bogdan.

Nigel Reo-Coker wasted a golden opportunity to equalise when he played a neat one-two with Miyaichi on the edge of the area.

And Didier Drogba made him pay, killing the game off with a close range header from Lampard's corner.

It was left to the England midfielder to wrap things up, stealing home unmarked with 12 minutes to go and firing home Mata's cross from the right.

Pressure had been building on Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas to get a result, and this one should buy him some time.

But for Wanderers this one had a depressing air of inevitability about it once the first goal had gone in.
