LOAN midfielder Jacob Butterfield is loving life with Wanderers and happy to be staying for another month.

The 22-year-old extended his short-term deal from Norwich last weekend and with Mark Davies now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, he will be looking to add to his two starts for the Whites.

The former Barnsley man believes his fitness has benefited from more regular football and hopes that will continue to improve in the coming weeks.

The England Under-21 international said: “I’m happy to extend the loan because I’ve really enjoyed my time here.

“I’ve made loads of progress. I feel much better in every aspect; fitness, confidence, everything; so the loan has been really beneficial.

“Obviously, I would have liked to have had a bit more time on the pitch, but that’s the manager’s decision and as players we just need to do our best when we’re given a chance. I feel I’ve done that and hopefully I’ll be able to show people more of what I’m about in the coming month.”

Butterfield joined Wanderers soon after Dougie Freedman’s appointment and has made four appearances so far.

But it looked, initially last week, that he may be heading back to Carrow Road before Canaries boss Chris Hughton had a change of heart and granted an extension.

Butterfield added: “Bolton showed their intent at an early stage that they wanted me to stay on for a longer period of time.

“It was a case waiting for Norwich’s decision and seeing what they wanted me to do.”

The midfielder could get another game in today if he is chosen to fill the void left by Mark Davies.
