Whites waiting on injured trio

DOUGIE Freedman is sweating on injuries to three key men ahead of today’s home clash with Birmingham City.
Strikers David Ngog, Benik Afobe and midfielder Keith Andrews are all doubts for the game after receiving knocks in the Boxing Day defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.
The Whites boss says they are not serious injuries but with a trip to Leeds up next in just 72 hours, he will not be taking risks with any slight concerns.
Freedman said: “We have got David Ngog struggling a little bit with a twisted ankle, Benik Afobe has a bit of a tight hamstring after the other day and Keith Andrews is feeling his Achilles because of the amount of games in a short space of time.
“David twisted his ankle early on. It wasn’t so much but the aggravation of it through the match has done it a bit of damage.
“They are all doubts. They trained yesterday and were all still feeling their injuries.
“It is a decision I have to make but with the games coming up thick and fast you have to be very careful.
“If we had a week to rest after today then it may be different but we have Leeds on Tuesday.”
The boss at least can welcome back skipper Kevin Davies after he sat out the midweek match against his home-town club through suspension.
And there are options in reserve with the likes of Chung-Yong Lee and Marvin Sordell.
Two more players are one booking away from missing Tuesday’s trip to Leeds with Zat Knight and Darren Pratley on four cautions with the threshold being midnight on Monday to reach five.
But Freedman says that will not be in his thinking ahead of today’s clash.
He added: “Kevin comes back though and there are some fresh legs on the bench so we have options.
“I don’t look at the fact we have two on bookings because players have to play on that fine line.”
