BARNSLEY are resigned to losing Wales striker Craig Davies to Wanderers this week after confirming a Whites bid for the 26-year-old has been accepted.

As reported in the Bolton News, Dougie Freedman has targeted Davies, who scored against the Whites in a 1-1 draw at the Reebok in November, as his first permanent signing after being a long-time admirer of the forward.

Now, after the Whites met the £300,000 buy-out clause in the frontman’s contract at Oakwell, talks are underway and only personal terms need to be agreed and he will become a Wanderer.

Barnsley director Don Rowing revealed: “We have accepted a bid from Bolton for Craig. He has a release clause in his contract, which many players do these days, and they have met that, so now it's up to the player to agree everything with Bolton.

“Craig is talking to Bolton and we expect the deal to be completed early this week if he can agree personal terms with them.”

Davies scored 11 goals last season and has bagged nine in 23 appearances in the first half of the current campaign.
