YOUNG Wanderers frontman Michael O’Halloran has extended his loan at Tranmere Rovers by another month.

As expected, the League One leaders will keep the 22-year-old at Prenton Park after a successful spell that has seen the Scot make nine appearances.

O’Halloran is yet to start for the Whites since joining in 2010 but has made two substitute appearances in cup competitions.

And boss Dougie Freedman stated he wants his youngsters to gain first-team experience out on loan if they are not involved at the Reebok Stadium.

That suits Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore who is delighted to have the Scotland Under-21 forward for an additional month.

Moore told the Rovers club website: “Michael has done well since he has been here so I’m pleased to be able to keep him for another month.

“With Jake Cassidy going back to Wolves and Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro not yet back from injury we’re short of options up front so Michael being allowed to stay is good news for us.

“I’d like to thank Dougie Freedman for letting Michael stay with us.”

O’Halloran cut short a brief spell at Carlisle earlier this season after being at Sheffield United for two months at the back end of 2011/12.
