WANDERERS are close to confirming a season-long loan deal for Slovakia Under-21 international midfielder Jan Gregus.

The 22-year-old has been in talks with the club for a week over a potential move from Banik Ostrava and spoke in glowing terms about the club in a recent interview.

He claims Dougie Freedman spotted him playing for his country in a 2-0 defeat against Romania in June, and confirmed his imminent arrival at the Reebok.

“The coach saw me in the match against Romania and wanted me to come,” he said. “I am not interested in joining any other clubs.

“The facilities at Bolton are superb. The training centre is top class but that's something they are used to here, I guess.

“The stadium is just beautiful and I'm looking forward to my new spell.

“I'm happy. If someone had told me during the autumn that I would be at a Championship club in the spring, I would not have believed it.”

Banik Ostrava executive Michal Dyml also confirmed in his native press that the deal was all but done, hinting that the move could potentially be made permanent in the summer.

“Gregus' move to Bolton is 90 per cent done and only an administrative issue can ruin it,” he said.

“I cannot reveal any details from this deal. But if the player should stay at Bolton beyond the first year, then we would reach more interesting figures.”
