CRYSTAL Palace groundsman Mark Perrin has assured Wanderers fans that every effort would be made to save today’s match against Wanderers.
Around three inches of snow fell in the Croydon area yesterday morning but the Eagles managed to cover the pitch to keep it in a playable condition.
It is expected that match officials will make an inspection early this morning in an effort to minimise the problems for Whites fans travelling to the game.
But speaking to the Palace website yesterday, Perrin seemed upbeat about the chances of the Championship game going ahead. “We’ll be working late tonight and early tomorrow to clear the snow,” he said.
“The main focus will be extra staff hired in. We’ll throw a lot of labour at it and try to get the game on.
“The surface is fine under the covers, it’s just a case of clearing the snow tomorrow.
“We’re not in the business of letting games get called off. We’ll throw everything at it.
“Supporters need to be made aware that everything will be done to get the game on.”
