DAVID Moyes admitted that Wanderers probably deserved a replay after matching his Champions League-chasing side at the Reebok.

The Everton boss – celebrating his 500th game in charge of the club – left a relieved man after John Heitinga’s stoppage-time strike booked the Toffees place at Oldham in the fifth round.

Steven Pienaar and Marvin Sordell had traded goals in the first half – but it had been all Wanderers until Moyes sent on Dutchman Heitinga into midfield with 10 minutes to go.

“The cup is all about getting a result, albeit one that was harsh on Bolton,” Moyes said. “I am not saying they deserved to win but they definitely didn’t deserve to lose on the day.

“They got the goal and we were at sixes and sevens before half time. It was always going to be a tough game, and so it proved.

“We played much better in the second half when we changed things round.”
