FORMER Wanderers striker Tony Philliskirk says new Whites frontman Craig Davies could be a game-changer for Dougie Freedman’s side.

The man who netted 75 goals in 185 Wanderers appearances has monitored the progress of Davies after seeing him at close quarters during his days with Oldham where Philliskirk remains on the coaching staff.

And while he did not work directly with the Wales international, who cost the Whites £300,000 from Barnsley recently, Philliskirk believes the 27-year-old’s unpredictability could be an asset to to his old club.

Philliskirk said: “Craig was at Oldham under John Sheridan five years ago so I know about him.

“I work with the youth team so didn’t coach him directly but did see him train and play.

“He has pace and power and that unpredictability that makes him a game-changer.

“His record at Barnsley in a struggling side has been good and now he has more experience than he had when he was at Oldham.

“He has progressed a lot and I am sure he will be a good addition for Bolton.”

Davies is yet to start since his switch to the Reebok from Oakwell, but made his debut off the bench for the last five minutes in the goalless draw at Crystal Palace and made a second substitute appearance in Saturday’s defeat at Watford.
