WANDERERS chiefs are to complain to the Football League after Championship rivals Middlesbrough announced reduced ticket prices for the forthcoming game between the sides for their own fans only.

Dougie Freedman’s side travel to the Riverside on Saturday week in what will be new Boro boss Aitor Karanka’s first home game in charge.

That has prompted the Teessiders to slash ticket prices to just £12 for adults and £7 for concessions as part of a local promotion ticket offer.

But that offer does not extend to away fans meaning travelling Wanderers supporters will have to stump up full admission prices of £27 for adults, £17 for over-65s and £14 for under-18s.

Whites bosses have contacted their Boro counterparts in a bid to make the offer open to all supporters but it appears their decision stands.

A statement released by Wanderers said: “The club has made representations to Middlesbrough to extend their offer to Bolton supporters but the decision has been made to run a price promotion for home supporters only.

“As a consequence the club will be now raising its concerns to the Football League.”

Anthony Emmerson, head of Boro supporter services, said the offer was designed to tempt back home support, which had fallen under ex-manager Tony Mowbray, and provide a “really warm welcome” to the new boss.

But the decision could have ramifications on segregation should Whites fans try to get into home sections at reduced rates.

It is naturally something Wanderers are unhappy with and to offset the added cost to supporters, they are now offering half-price coach travel of just £8.50 for the game.

Anyone who has already purchased coach travel should contact Bolton Central on 0844 871 2932 for a partial refund.
