JACK Wilshere says he would be prepared to make a Reebok return if he fails to land a first team place at Arsenal next season.

Having made 10 appearances for the Whites since his loan switch from the Emirates in January, the 18-year-old playmaker has whet his appetite for Premier League football.

And while earning a regular starting place in Arsene Wenger’s side remains his number one priority, the England Under-21 international would have no qualms about staying in Lancashire next season to further his development.

“I’m sure it’s something that the managers will discuss in the summer,” he said.

“Obviously I’d rather stay and play at Arsenal, because I am an Arsenal player, but if it’s not going to be that way then I don’t see any reason why I wouldn’t come back up here and play some more.”

Wilshere played in the centre of midfield as Wanderers were edged out by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, and has steadily become a fixture and fitting of the team under Owen Coyle.

And he says his three months at the Reebok – where his physical development in particular has been addressed in regular sessions with fitness coach Ade Stovell – has made him a better player.

“I’ve had phone calls from the scouts at Arsenal,” he said. “I’m sure the reports have been fine.

“Moving to Bolton has been good for me. I have got to play more in the Premier League, so that’s been great.

“Things seem to come more naturally when you are playing more.

“The physical side of the game is important and it’s been nice to learn that. Now, when I go back to Arsenal, I’ll be that little bit stronger.

“That’s the aim. I came here to get six months experience and then go back to see how things are. Hopefully I can break into the first team next season but we’ll wait and see.”

Before moving back to London at the end of the season, Wilshere feels he has some unfinished business to attend to at his adopted club.

Wanderers remain within touching distance of safety but have struggled to find points in the last stretch of the campaign to make everyone around the Reebok breathe a little easier.

“I think we need another three or four points to make sure,” said Wilshere.

“We’ve got four games left, and I’d hope we can get them as quickly as possible.

“Against Stoke, we’ll obviously have to stop their set pieces and then go out and do it ourselves. I think we can beat them.

“It’s important we have the belief we can get out of trouble. We are in the best position because it’s in our own hands.”
