BARCELONA look unlikely to allow Spanish whiz-kid Thiago Alcantara to join Wanderers on a season-long loan.
Owen Coyle made the ambitious offer for the 19-year-old, rated as one of the Nou Camp’s up-and-coming stars, after being frustrated in his efforts to land Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere and Manchester United’s Tom Cleverley.
But Barca coach Pep Guardiola has indicated he wants to keep the creative midfielder on hand in the first team squad this season.
Coyle has said he is still in the market for “one or two” new signings before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
But The Bolton News understands no approach has been made for Sunderland defender Matthew Kilgallon, who was linked yesterday with a £2million move to the Reebok.
Coyle has been impressed with the pre-season form of Andy O’Brien, and could fight to keep him despite the centre-half admitting he could leave Wanderers after falling behind Gary Cahill and Zat Knight in the pecking order.
