RYO Miyaichi scored just four minutes into his first start for Wanderers as they cruised past Millwall to book their place in the last eight of the FA Cup.

The Japanese winger, on loan from Arsenal, curled a fine effort past Steve Mildenhall to settle the nerves in what looked a very tricky tie on paper.

The lead could, and should have been extended by the break. But the Whites' passage into the quarter finals was only really settled when David Ngog spun 25 yards out to drill home the second just before the hour mark.

Owen Coyle had reverted back to a five man midfield and brought Tim Ream in for his full debut. Miyaichi and Tuncay were also rewarded with a starting place after cameo appearances in the defeat to Wigan last weekend.

Wanderers were handed the perfect start when Sam Ricketts' quick free kick picked out Miyaichi on the left wing and he outpaced Alan Dunne before curling home his first goal in professional football.

Tuncay then had a stinging effort pushed out by Mildenhall before Fabrice Muamba missed a golden chance, albeit one of his own making, after pinching the ball from Jack Smith and exchanging passes with Ngog.

Millwall always looked a threat at set pieces and racked up half a dozen corners before the interval – but the closest they got was when Gretar Steinsson sliced narrowly over his own crossbar.

The Championship side improved early in the second half, and Liam Trotter forced a good save out of Adam Bogdan before Paul Robinson – the Lions skipper – glanced a header wide from Scott Barron's corner.

Their mini revival was stopped in its tracks, however, when Ngog drilled his third goal of the season from just outside the box.

Bogdan was still kept busy and made one terrific double save from Harry Kane and Darius Henderson's follow up with 19 minutes remaining.

But Wanderers went close to a third when Sam Ricketts marauded down the left and swept a left footed shot just wide of the post.
