JOSH Vela will have a scan today to determine the extent of a knee injury sustained in the Capital One Cup tie at Crawley Town on Tuesday night.
The highly-rated youngster limped out of this first-ever Wanderers start after just six minutes before watching a 2-1 defeat unfold from the sidelines at the Broadfield Stadium.
Vela fell awkwardly after a challenge from Nicky Adams and appeared to catch his studs in the turf and he tumbled over.
Skipper Kevin Davies is keeping his fingers crossed that there is good news for the 18-year-old.
“I was particularly looking forward to him starting against Crawley because I’m a big admirer of his,” he said.
“Hopefully it isn’t anything too serious but it didn’t look great.
“He’s definitely one for the future for us.”
There is better news in the shape of Benik Afobe, however, who also came off injured during the second half.
The on-loan Arsenal striker suffered a bruised hip but will be part of the squad travelling to Hull City this weekend.
