England replaced Chris Woakes with fellow all-rounder Samit Patel for the second match of their NatWest one-day series against South Africa at the Ageas Bowl.

The series opener was washed out after just 5.3 overs in Cardiff, giving Woakes no time to impress on his return to the side after a year.

But, having assessed the pitch this morning, England decided they needed a second spinner and drafted in left-armer Patel.

South Africa captain AB de Villiers, who named an unchanged XI, won the toss and opted to bat first, leaving the hosts to chase under the floodlights in this day/night international.
