I'VE read the sports column in The Bolton News for many years, and as a
Wanderers fan for over 50 years and season ticket holder it makes me wonder
if fans and football directors live in the same world.
It's taken Gartside and his cronies some seven or eight months to dismantle
what took Sam Allardyce , players and backroom staff seven to eight years to
assemble.
I don't blame Sammy Lee or Gary Megson for our demise. This all falls on the
short sighted directors at Bolton Wanderers and small mined ambitions.

Now we are in a situation with our lowest crowds and poorest results since
Sam Allardyce took over.
Maybe in Gartside and Cos quite moments they should reflect on Sam Allardyce's
requests, and maybe tried to meet the aspirations of the manager.
This time last year the club needed to speculate, but Gartside and Co choose
to stick. This alienated the manager - now where are we? In a dog fight at
the foot of the Premiership on the verge of loosing £20m+, when last year we
should have been contemplating spending that amount to improve the team.
The majority of the team is the same as last year, so what element as
changed? (Sam Allardyce).
No atmosphere. Why?
No Music build-up before games.
No fireworks to reach the crescendo.
No Music - after goals.
No Flags - after goals, nothing to inspirer the fans.
Whose bright idea was that ?
The ground is flat before and after games, we are becoming the laughing
stock of the Premiership, sometimes there are more away fans in the stadium,
due corporate sale and freebies.
Whose bright idea was that ?
All Bolton Wanderers fans want is a forward looking club with ambition and a
team that reflects that.
If you always believe you are little you always will be.
I remember the Man United and Liverpools of the 50s/60s, its took them 50
years to achieve their present status. Bolton Wanderers in the 50s could
have followed their lead then but didn't when we had 30,000 and 40,000 fans
coming to games.

There is no doubt the downfall of our club is down to one man, Phil Gartside. His refusal to fund Sam's next leap foward was nothiong short of criminal negligence. Now our problem is that we have no goalscorers, so why on earth did he sell Anelka in the middle of a relegation fight season. And why did he say before the January transfer window that "we have contingency plans in place should Anelka leave'. Well I didn't spot the plan, did you? And last, but not least, Megson playing a reserve side in UEFA Cup. Our 1st team would probably have beaten them and we would have walken onto the pitch against Wigan feeling on top of the world. But no, we have a team that hadn't played for 2 weeks and looked as though they hadn't played with each other ever. For gods sake let's play our full team in ALL the cups as it's our ONLY chance of winning anything. As for the UEFA Cup, will we ever get that great chance of glory again. I despair, despite a decent performance against United last night. One last thought, who ever thought Matt Taylor was a good player? He's useless.
